A: The Endeavour College Board has been instrumental in guiding this project from its inception. Their strategic vision and leadership have ensured that the development aligns with the College’s mission, values, and long-term goals. The Board’s commitment to excellence has been a driving force behind this exciting initiative, helping to shape plans that meet the needs of our students, families, and the wider community.
Q: When will the new facilities be ready?
A: The timeline is still being finalised. Construction is expected to begin shortly, pending necessary approvals, with further updates on completion dates shared as plans progress.
Q: How will the expansion benefit the community?
A: The proposed multi-purpose space is intended to serve as a hub for cultural events, performances, and church services, while the new junior school will provide additional educational opportunities for local families.
Q: When will the school accept enrolments for the junior school?
A: The first intake for Reception to Year 6 students is expected in 2027. We will provide more details when we are open to accepting expressions of interest, and when official enrolments will be open once they are available. Stay updated via our website and newsletters for further announcements.
Q: How does this impact enrolment policies?
A: The addition of Reception to Year 6 will provide more opportunities for families seeking a seamless educational pathway. Students from Connected Schools will continue to have priority entry.
Q: How will the expansion impact the school community and existing facilities?
A: The Reception to Year 6 precinct will be an exciting addition to our campus, enriching the school community by welcoming younger students and fostering a more connected and collaborative learning environment. This expansion will create valuable mentorship and leadership opportunities, allowing middle and senior school students to engage with and support younger learners, strengthening relationships across year levels. A key benefit of this development is the addition of a multi-purpose space, providing a versatile venue for school events, performances, assemblies, and sports activities. Middle and senior school students will have access to this state-of-the-art facility, further enhancing their educational and co-curricular experiences.
Q: How noisy will the construction be?
A: While some noise is unavoidable during construction, we are committed to minimising disruption as much as possible. Work will be carried out in accordance with local council noise regulations, with construction activities scheduled during standard working hours to reduce the impact on nearby residents and businesses. Where feasible, low-noise construction methods will be used, and we will ensure that noise levels remain within acceptable limits throughout the project.
Q: What hours will construction take place?
A: Construction will be carried out in accordance with local council regulations, typically during standard working hours (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM). Noisy activities will be scheduled for times that minimise disruption, and we will communicate any necessary adjustments in advance.
Q: Will I be able to still access the Mawson Lakes Main Bridge and the walkways by the lakeside?
A: This development will not impact the existing Mawson Lakes Main Bridge, which will continue to offer public access over the water. Additionally, the lakefront walkways adjacent to the proposed development will remain fully accessible to the public. There may be temporary diversions or controlled access points in certain areas to ensure safety, but we will clearly communicate any changes well in advance. Our priority is to minimise disruption while ensuring a safe environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
Q: How will you minimise the impact on the local environmental?
A: Endeavour College is committed to a sustainable and environmentally responsible approach in all aspects of our development. We will ensure that the Lakeside Project aligns with best-practice sustainability principles while enhancing the local area for future generations.
To achieve this, we will work closely with environmental consultants and local authorities to implement strategies that protect the natural surroundings, waterways, and local wildlife. Our approach includes minimising disruption to ecosystems, incorporating sustainable building materials, and ensuring responsible waste management throughout the project.
Q: How will you manage traffic and parking during construction?
A: The safety and convenience of families, students, and staff remain our top priority. We are implementing a detailed traffic management plan to minimise disruptions, including:
- Temporary detours and alternative parking arrangements for staff and visitors
- Designated construction access routes to reduce impact on school traffic
- Ongoing monitoring to adjust plans as needed
Q: How will the expansion impact traffic in the area once the new school facilities are
operational?
A: We acknowledge community concerns regarding traffic and congestion. As part of this project, we are conducting a comprehensive traffic assessment with traffic engineers. Solutions being considered include:
- Optimised drop-off/pick-up zones
- A new internal driveway to manage vehicle movement
- Encouraging public transport use for high school students
- Improvements to local traffic flow where necessary
Regular updates will be provided as these plans progress.
Q: How is this project being funded?
A: The project is being funded through a combination of College investment, community contributions, and funding applications to both State and Federal Governments. We are actively seeking grants and funding opportunities to support this expansion and will continue engaging with stakeholders throughout the process.
Q: What safety measures will be in place during construction?
A: Safety remains paramount throughout the project. The construction site will be securely fenced, with clear signage and traffic management in place. Contractors will follow strict safety guidelines, and pedestrian routes will be clearly marked.
Q: Will the new school have an oval or outdoor play space?
A: While there is no traditional oval, the new R-6 school will feature purpose-designed covered play areas and an outdoor play area with ample green space, nature-based play zones, and multipurpose areas. Students will continue to have access to high-quality recreational facilities that support active learning and well-being.
Q: How will the design of the footbridge blend with the existing look and feel of Mawson Lakes?
The footbridge is designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind. It will provide a safe, covered pedestrian crossing while complementing the existing Mawson Lakes architectural style. Careful consideration has been given to materials, colour palette, and landscaping to ensure it integrates seamlessly into the local environment.
Q: How will high school students be impacted by the loss of parking?
To accommodate the new R-6 school, parking arrangements have been redesigned to ensure minimal disruption. The project includes an internal driveway and car park with 44 spaces, including designated student, staff, and visitor parking. We are also reviewing additional solutions, such as off-site parking partnerships and public transport incentives for senior students.
Q: Will Parkrun and community access to the lakefront be affected?
The College recognises the importance of Parkrun and other public recreation activities around the lake. While temporary detours may be in place during construction, access to running paths, cycling routes, and walkways will be maintained wherever possible. We will work with community groups to ensure that any disruptions are clearly communicated.
Q: Why did Endeavour College choose to build the primary school on the new site instead of relocating the high school?
Endeavour College carefully considered several options before selecting the most practical and beneficial location for the new primary school. The decision to build the Reception to Year 6 (R-6) school on the new site while keeping the high school in its current location was based on several key factors:
- Keeping the high school in its existing location ensures that middle and senior school students continue to have direct access to specialist learning spaces, leadership opportunities, and support networks.
- The existing high school campus was purpose-built to meet the needs of secondary students. It includes specialist classrooms, science labs, technology spaces, and senior study areas that would be costly and impractical to replicate at a new site.
- The new site allows for the development of a school designed specifically for younger students, incorporating age-appropriate learning environments, play areas, and support services tailored to the needs of primary-aged children.
- Keeping the high school at its current site ensures that the education for secondary students remains stable and uninterrupted, while allowing for a smooth introduction of the primary school.
Q: How will the new facilities support Connected Schools students?
The College remains committed to Connected Schools and will continue to offer priority pathways for students from Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School Para Vista, St Paul Lutheran Primary School Blair Athol, and Golden Grove Lutheran Lutheran Primary School. A proportion of places in the new R-6 school will be reserved for Connected Schools students, ensuring strong collaboration between schools.
Q: Will this project result in increased school fees?
Endeavour College is working to minimise financial impact on families by securing external funding, including government grants and strategic investment. While fees are reviewed annually, our commitment is to maintain affordability and value for families.
