A pedestrian footbridge: connecting campuses safely
As part of the Lakeside Project, Endeavour College is constructing a purpose-built pedestrian footbridge for use by students and staff over Mawson Lakes Boulevard, ensuring safe, seamless movement between the junior and secondary campuses.
With the introduction of younger students to the area, safety is paramount. The pedestrianonly bridge will eliminate the need for children to cross a busy road, reducing interactions with vehicles and enhancing student security. This will provide peace of mind for parents while reinforcing the College’s commitment to student wellbeing.
Beyond safety, the footbridge will also ease congestion along Mawson Lakes Boulevard. The current signalised pedestrian crossing often causes delays during peak school hours, affecting both families and commuters. The new overpass will allow students and staff to cross safely above the roadway, improving traffic flow and reducing wait times for all road users.
More than just a functional structure, the footbridge will enhance campus connectivity. Students will be able to move effortlessly between learning spaces, access shared facilities, and participate in events without disruption. The design will prioritise accessibility, incorporating ramps and lifts where needed to support students, staff, and school visitors of all mobility levels. To ensure comfort in all seasons, features such as shade structures, roofing, or enclosed walkways may also be incorporated.
Designed to complement the modern architecture of Endeavour College, the footbridge will seamlessly integrate into the Mawson Lakes urban landscape, reinforcing our vision for a connected, future-focused learning environment.
