Middle School
A Time of Growth, Discovery and Belonging
The Middle Years are an important stage in every young person’s learning journey.
As students move from childhood towards adolescence, they are developing a stronger sense of identity, independence and responsibility. At Endeavour College, we understand the opportunities and challenges that come with this stage of life and intentionally create an environment where students feel known, supported and ready to grow.
Our Middle School is designed to help students make a confident transition into secondary learning, build strong relationships, explore their interests and develop the skills they need for Senior School and beyond.
Our Middle Years program
Through strong relationships, engaging learning experiences and purpose-built facilities, students are supported to become more confident, capable and connected learners.
Our Middle Years program provides:
- Deep and engaging learning experiences
- Strong partnerships between students, families and teachers
- Interdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning opportunities
- Learning beyond the classroom
- Service learning experiences
- Contemporary technology that enhances learning
- Purpose-built facilities designed for adolescent learners
Designed for the Middle Years
Students in Years 7 to 9 are at a unique stage of development.
Physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually, they are experiencing rapid change. They are asking bigger questions, forming stronger views, seeking greater independence and learning more about who they are and where they belong.
At Endeavour College, our Middle School program recognises these developmental needs and provides structure, care and challenge in equal measure.
A Strong Start to Secondary School
Starting secondary school is a significant milestone.
Our transition program helps students settle into College life, build friendships and develop confidence in new routines, expectations and learning environments.
In Year 7, students are supported by a class structure that allows them to spend a significant amount of time with the same core teacher and class group. This helps students build strong relationships, feel connected and develop a sense of belonging as they adjust to secondary school.
As students move through Years 8 and 9, they gradually engage with a broader range of teachers, subjects and learning experiences. This staged approach supports increasing independence while ensuring students continue to feel supported.
Learning That Builds Capability
Middle School students study a broad and balanced curriculum aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
Learning is designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking. Students are supported to make connections across learning areas and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
At Endeavour College, we aim to develop students who are:
- Creative, innovative and critical thinkers
- Problem finders and solvers
- Independent and collaborative learners
- Effective communicators and skilled information users
- Reflective learners who can evaluate their own work
- Ethical contributors to the world they live in
These capabilities are developed across the curriculum, through classroom learning, project-based experiences, service learning and co-curricular opportunities.
Learning Through Independence, Interdependence and Collective Action
Learning in the Middle Years is guided by Endeavour College’s Vision for Learners.
During Years 7 to 9, students are encouraged to develop increasing independence, learn to work interdependently with others and begin to understand how their gifts and actions can contribute positively to the wider community.
- In the Middle School, this means students are supported to:
- Take increasing ownership of their learning and behaviour
- Build confidence and resilience
- Collaborate with others
- Develop empathy and respect for different perspectives
- Engage with their community
- Recognise their capacity to make a positive difference

Preparing for Senior School and Beyond
The Middle Years provide an important foundation for the next stage of learning.
By the end of Year 9, students have developed greater confidence, independence and self-awareness. They have explored a broad curriculum, built strong relationships and begun to understand their strengths, interests and future possibilities.
Most importantly, they are supported to become young people who are curious, compassionate and capable of making a positive contribution to the world around them.
As students move into Senior School, they are ready to make more informed choices about their learning pathways and future goals.
